Industry exposure
Site tours of utilities, substations and generation facilities, plus guest talks from local employers and Conestoga alumni working in the field.
Launching September 2026 · Fountain Street campus
The Conestoga Power & Energy Society is a student community exploring the fast-changing world of power and energy — generation, renewables, storage, electric vehicles and the smart grid. Open to every program and year.
About CPES
The energy industry is changing faster than any time in a century — electrification, grid modernization, renewables and storage are reshaping how Ontario and the world are powered. CPES exists to connect Conestoga students to that world: the people, the skills, and the opportunities to build a career in it.
You don't need to be a Power Systems student. First-years exploring their options, upper-years chasing co-op and résumé wins, and students from electrical, mechanical, electronics and beyond all have a place here.
What we actually doWhat we do
Site tours of utilities, substations and generation facilities, plus guest talks from local employers and Conestoga alumni working in the field.
Hands-on workshops on industry-relevant tools and ideas — single-line diagrams, MATLAB for power, intro to ETAP/PSCAD, and PLC basics.
Résumé reviews, co-op prep, mock interviews and alumni panels — so you walk into the energy job market with a real network and an edge.
Monthly meetups, end-of-semester socials and peer mentorship across years and programs — a friendly home base on campus.

Tap a milestone to trace where CPES is headed — from founding cohort to a full IEEE Power & Energy Society chapter.
The executive team
CPES is forming now. The founding President is in place; three exec seats are open for students who want to help build something from the ground up.
